Statement of Faith
The basis and foundation of Open Door Baptist Church is the Word of God. (King James Bible, 1611). In conformity to God’s Word, we stand committed to the following statement of faith:
1. We believe that the Holy Scriptures, (King James Bible, 1611), alone and their entirety are the written Word of God, and therefore are inerrant from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21. The Bible constitutes our only authoritative, infallible rule in all matters of faith and practice II Timothy 3:16).
2. We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (I John 4:24; Matthew 28:19; I John 5:6-7).
3. We believe in the Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ (I John 8:58; 10:33); in His Virgin Birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:35); in His Sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, 7:25); in His Vicarious and Atoning death through His shed Blood (Ephesians 1:7; Colossians 1:14); in His Resurrection (John 20:25-29; Acts 2:31-32); in His coming in the clouds (the rapture) for the church (I Thessalonians 4:13-17); in His personal, visible coming in power and glory to set up His Kingdom (Matthew 24:27-31; Mark 13:24-27; Revelation 1:7).
4. We believe that all men fell in Adam’s transgression and as a result are sinful by nature (Romans 5:12-19) and as such are at enmity against God (Romans 8:7-8). Therefore, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential to their salvation (Romans 8:9, 13, 14).
5. We believe that men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed Blood of Jesus Christ (Romans 1:17; John 3:36; Hebrews 9:22) and that by God’s grace through faith alone are we saved (Ephesians 1:7).
6. We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, regenerates believers into children of God through the new birth, and by His indwelling sanctifies us to live a Godly life (John 16:8; I Corinthians 12:13; Romans 8:1-4; 10-16).
7. We believe in the resurrection and judgment of both the saved and the lost (Daniel 12:2), the saved unto the resurrection of life (Romans 14:10-12), and the lost unto the resurrection of damnation in the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15; Matthew 25:34-36).
