About Open Door

Open Door has a historical fundamental past.  Dr. Joe Boyd first started Open Door and gave Mesquite a true taste of old-fashion fundamentalism.  Dr. Boyd also started a Bible College with Dr. Jack Hyles during his pastorate and trained many preachers.  Then God called Dr. Boyd into evangelism work.

The church was without a pastor and many of the members moved on to other works.  Dr. Sylvester Matthews became burdened about Mesquite and came back to start Open Door back up again.  Bro. Matthews pastored Open Door for 37 years.

In January of 2004, Open Door called Dr. Matt Jarrell to become the new pastor.  Open Door is growing with people saved and baptized nearly every week.  Dr. Jarrell began a Christian school when he came to Open Door, Mesquite Baptist Academy has and enrollment of 65 from K-5 thru 12th.  Open Door presently supports 118 Missionaries and practice Faith Promise Giving.
